If your child’s permanent tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown and gently rinse it without scrubbing.

Next, try to place the tooth back in the socket if possible. If not, store it in milk and get to a dentist immediately. Acting quickly improves the chances of saving the tooth.

If a tooth becomes loose or shifts out of place, have your child bite gently on a clean cloth to keep it stable. Do not attempt to reposition it yourself.

Left untreated, an abscess can spread and lead to more significant health issues. Rinsing with warm salt water may help, but emergency dental care is necessary to treat the infection properly.
