Step 1: X-Ray and Assessment
We take an image to see exactly where the permanent tooth is and how long until it erupts. That timeline determines whether an appliance is warranted at all.
Step 2: Fitting and Impression
We size a band to the neighboring tooth and take a quick impression or digital scan. Most children find this the least eventful appointment they have ever had.
Step 3: Placement
At the second visit, we cement the finished appliance in place. It takes a few minutes and requires no numbing. Your child may notice it for a day or two, then forgets it is there.
Step 4: Regular Checks
We check the appliance at every six-month visit, and we remove it as soon as the permanent tooth begins to break through.
